""active" pay wage"
Instacart abandoned an earlier claim that a minimum wage for grocery delivery workers would raise grocery costs. Instacart now says it "fully support[s] a minimum pay standard of $21.44 per hour for grocery delivery workers in New York City." The company limits that support to "active" time between when a delivery order starts and when the delivery is completed, excluding time spent waiting or traveling between jobs. Instacart sent a letter urging Council Speaker Adrienne Adams to amend the bill before the Council vote scheduled for Sept. 10. The demand mirrors tactics used by restaurant delivery apps and involved lobbying help from Tusk Strategies.
