"This law allows workers in fields that 'customarily and regularly' receive tips to deduct up to $25,000 worth of tip income from their taxes. However, there is a catch. This policy won't apply if creators are taking home more than $150K a year. A US Treasury spokesperson confirmed to Business Insider that influencers definitely qualify for this break. They defined eligible influencers as: people who 'produce and publish on digital platforms original entertainment or personality-driven content, such as live streams, short-form videos, or podcasts.'"
Donald Trump's 'no tax on tips' policy eliminates federal taxation on tip income for workers in occupations that customarily receive tips, allowing deductions of up to $25,000 on 2025 taxes. The law became effective after being signed into law as part of the 'Big Beautiful Bill' in July 2025. The deduction explicitly covers digital creators who produce original entertainment or personality-driven content on platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and podcast hosts. Creators with annual earnings above $150,000 are ineligible for the write-off, excluding top-earning influencers.
