During a recent appearance on Fox Business, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated his intention to remove electric vehicle (EV) charging stations from infrastructure projects, labeling them as unnecessary 'social justice' expenditures. Duffy emphasized that his focus is solely on essential infrastructure needs like roads and bridges, rather than supporting green initiatives or social policies, which he claims inflate project costs. He contrasts his stance with former President Trump's efforts to promote EV ownership, highlighting a rift within the Republican approach to green technologies and infrastructure investment.
I'm not doing green. I'm not doing social justice. We're building infrastructure. The last administration wanted all these green and social justice requirements that drive up the cost of projects.
We've said no more. We're doing roads, bridges, this infrastructure at the southern border; but enough of the side projects. Make the investments. Spend the taxpayer money well.
