During an immigration court session in Lower Manhattan, an immigrant experienced a medical emergency while being detained by ICE agents. The incident occurred on the 12th floor of 26 Federal Plaza. As ICE approached a French-speaking immigrant after his hearing, he was taken down a hallway into a stairwell. Reports emerged of a man coughing and appearing to vomit. One agent exited the stairwell, revealing the man lying handcuffed and seemingly unconscious. Multiple agents swiftly entered the stairwell afterward as the situation escalated.
Screaming and guttural coughing were heard emanating from the stairwell, and one onlooker suggested he sounded like he was vomiting. Another person shouted that he needed medical attention.
One of the arresting agents rushed out of the stairwell, and when the door swung open, the detained man could be seen lying handcuffed on the ground, appearing to be unconscious.
