"They never got to see a doctor."
"No law enforcement agency contacted us, and we did not coordinate with any agency, a spokesperson said. Adventist Health Portland is here for our community, open, available, and ready to provide care when it's needed most. Patient care remains our priority, regardless of circumstances."
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested a husband, wife, and their seven-year-old daughter outside Adventist Health hospital in Portland after the child experienced a persistent nosebleed. The parents, Yohendry De Jesus Crespo and Darianny Liseth Gonzalez de Crespo, are from Venezuela and the child, Diana, was born in Ecuador. The family has a pending asylum petition and reportedly spent a month in Mexico before using the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol app in November 2024 to schedule an asylum appointment. A review found no criminal history in Oregon or Utah. Adventist Health said no law enforcement agency contacted or coordinated with the hospital. The family is reportedly being held at a Texas detention facility where another detained child, five-year-old Liam Ramos, is also being held after an ICE arrest in Minneapolis.
