Jim Cramer voiced his disappointment regarding President Trump's tariffs, expressing that he is not a proponent of free trade but supports fair trade. He criticized the broad tariffs, starting at 10% and exceeding 40% for some imports, arguing for a more coordinated and reciprocal approach. Cramer highlighted the inconsistency of the tariff numbers and the lack of sensible trade policy. He admitted to feeling deceived, as he had hoped for a more strategic and data-driven trade agreement based on mutual interests.
I'm let down because yes, I'm not a free trader I'm a fair trader... I was hoping for a coordinated thing where if you are charging us 20%, we charge you 20%.
The numbers do not make any sense... they really did over and over again the president said, Listen, it's going to be reciprocal.
I really believed in it. And I feel like a sucker tonight because I am not a free trader and I do not believe in free trade.
They screwed it up and they really made they did it a totally ill-advised way. And I was very let down as someone who really, truly believes that free trade.
