Rep. Randy Fine criticized Sen. Rand Paul's attempts to restrict President Trump's tariff authority during an interview on CNN. Fine, representing a new congressional seat, asserted that he is focused on combating Democrats rather than engaging in tariff debates. Paul's legislation aims to revoke the national emergency status that facilitates Trump's tariffs, which the senator believes require congressional approval due to their tax implications. While Paul seeks bipartisan support for the bill, Fine believes Trump is effectively pursuing a new approach, indicating any debate on tariffs should not take place in the House.
The whole debate is so fundamentally backwards and upside down. It's based on a fallacy that somehow in a trade someone must lose.
Trump's doing things the new way. If Rand Paul wants to get together with Bernie Sanders to fight Donald Trump, well, that's on him.
