Senator Ron Johnson defended President Trump's decision to carry out airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, asserting that any surprise among Democrats was unfounded. He emphasized that Trump had indicated his intentions prior to the strikes and justified the lack of communication with Congress by citing operational security. Johnson insisted that the president acted within his constitutional authority as commander-in-chief, despite criticism and concerns raised by Democrats about the decision-making process and potential impacts. He reaffirmed America's commitment to preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear power.
Well, I don't know how anybody could have been surprised at this. I think President Trump certainly telegraphed it. He said he was going to make his decision in a couple of weeks. I certainly understand why President Trump would not share that information with the Democrats in Congress. And, again, the operational security is just so crucial to protect our service men and women.
Oh, they will scream about it, but there's nothing they can really do. Again, President Trump has his Article II powers as commander-in-chief. He exercised those.
