GOP Rep. Don Bacon fries Pete Hegseth over Signal chats: 'Acting like he's above the law'
Briefly

Rep. Don Bacon criticized Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, suggesting that he should be removed from his position after allegations of leaking sensitive war plans. Bacon questioned Hegseth's competency, citing a lack of experience to lead a vital government organization. Following reports of Hegseth sharing operational details with non-secure chat groups, Bacon expressed deep concern about compromising national security, especially with adversaries like Russia and China. The Pentagon defended Hegseth, stating that no classified information was leaked, but Bacon remained unconvinced regarding the seriousness of the matter.
I had concerns from the get-go because Pete Hegseth didn't have a lot of experience... does he have the experience to lead one of the largest organizations in the world?
If it's true that he had another [Signal] chat with his family, about the missions against the Houthis, it's totally unacceptable.
Russia and China put up thousands of people to monitor all these phone calls at the very top, and the No. 1 target would be the secretary of defense.
I find it unacceptable, and I wouldn't tolerate it if I was in charge.
