"Pritzker was summoned to the hearing alongside two other Democratic governors - Minnesota Gov. Walz and New York Gov. Hochul - to explain their states' refusal to have their legal authorities aid federal agents with detainment and deportation efforts. Then, Gill tried to have his "viral moment," WLS-TV reported. "Governor, do you think biological men should be able to use women's restrooms?" Gill asked."
"Gill then read Pritzker's February 23, 2017, social media post that said, "As a protest against Trump 's rescinding protections for trans kids, everyone should use the other gender's bathroom today." Pritzker, at the time, said that he "was not being literal" when joking about everyone using the wrong bathroom for a day. Was not being literal. But I think today and every day we should be standing up for all our kids. #ResistTrump- JB Pritzker (@JBPritzker) February 23, 2017"
Gov. JB Pritzker appeared alongside Minnesota Gov. Walz and New York Gov. Hochul before a House committee to explain sanctuary-state refusals to assist federal immigration detentions. Rep. Brandon Gill redirected questioning to a 2017 social media post in which Pritzker joked that people should use the other gender's bathroom as a protest. Pritzker said he was not being literal, questioned the relevance to immigration, declined a simple yes-or-no response, and said he did not recall using a women’s restroom. Gill pressed the point by reading the 2017 post aloud, producing a tense exchange.
