Michael Fanone, a Capitol Police officer who was beaten on Jan. 6, attended a hearing featuring former special counsel Jack Smith alongside fellow officers Daniel Hodges, Aquilino Gonell, and Harry Dunn. The officers sought accountability for the attack on the Capitol and for perceived betrayals by leadership. Gonell emphasized that Republican actions cannot erase the harm done to the Capitol and the public. Rep. Troy Nehls blamed Capitol Police leadership and planning failures instead of Donald Trump. Fanone vocally protested Nehls, shouted an expletive, and later confronted audience member Ivan Raiklin, accusing him of threatening his family.
