The federal government disbursed another $77 million in previously frozen funding for the $16 billion Gateway project to replace century-old Hudson River rail tunnels. This is the second installment of $205 million a judge ordered released after a lawsuit by New York and New Jersey. Funding had been paused by the Trump administration in October, and construction was suspended when the Gateway Development Commission exhausted a line of credit. The commission said construction remains paused while officials plan how to deploy the funds. Labor leaders urged consistent funding and immediate release of money to resume work.
