"Call [Kamoustsas] and tell him to go to hell and take DeSantis who appointed him on the trip,"
""seriously reduce that person's effectiveness as an employee of the district school board.""
"The commissioner's letter seems to go too far by implying educators' personal lives and personal opinions expressed outside of work can be used as a way to terminate their teaching certificate in the state of Florida."
A sixth-grade U.S. history and science teacher in Florida is under investigation for reposting a social media message that told officials to "go to hell" after the state education commissioner pledged to investigate educators' negative posts about MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk following his September 10 murder. The repost criticized Florida Department of Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas for promising to investigate and potentially discipline teachers. Kamoutsas sent a letter warning that public comments could lead to discipline or teaching-license revocation if they "seriously reduce that person's effectiveness as an employee of the district school board." Dozens of teachers have been investigated, and the Florida Education Association is representing 30 educators.
