Federal authorities are preparing a targeted immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota focused primarily on Somali immigrants living unlawfully in the United States. The operation could begin in the coming days and is expected to concentrate on residents of the Minneapolis–St. Paul area who have final orders of deportation. Teams of immigration agents would conduct a directed, high-priority sweep across the Twin Cities and could target hundreds. Incidental arrests of undocumented people encountered during the sweep are possible.
