Elmo's X account hacked to publish racist and antisemetic posts | TechCrunch
Briefly

Elmo's X account was hacked, resulting in the posting of offensive and abusive messages that have since been removed. The nonprofit Sesame Workshop confirmed they are working to regain control of the account. The hacked account called for the Trump administration to release documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation and still links to a Telegram channel referencing a crypto scam. This incident follows several other high-profile hacks since Musk's acquisition of the platform, including major figures and entities such as the U.S. SEC and OpenAI.
On Sunday, Elmo's official account published several abusive posts, since removed. The account also called on the Trump administration to release files related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.
The nonprofit Sesame Workshop said it was 'working to restore full control of the account' after the hack. At the time of writing, Elmo's hacked X account still links to a Telegram channel.
It's the latest high-profile account to have been hacked since Musk's takeover of the site, including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, OpenAI, and Donald Trump Jr.
Musk's AI company xAI apologized last week after its Grok chatbot posted antisemitic memes and expressed support for Adolf Hitler.
