U.S. meat consumption is rising while mass deportations target the workers who process beef, pork, and chicken. ICE raids, including a June 10, 2025 operation at Glen Valley Foods in Omaha that detained nearly 100 workers, caused production at that plant to drop about 70 percent. Roughly 23 percent of meatpacking workers are undocumented and 42 percent are foreign-born, reflecting a longstanding industry reliance on immigrant labor. Poultry workers report being labeled essential during the COVID-19 pandemic yet now face deportation. Government officials have promoted deportations until a "100 percent American workforce" is achieved and suggested Medicaid recipients could fill those jobs.
They eat out of our hands.
Now they are throwing us out of the country.
I work with someone who is undocumented, and we do the same work. Are you going to judge us? Am I better than the person who is undocumented? We do the same work, and they pay us the same wage. We are equal.
100 percent American workforce.
