President Donald Trump and other Republicans lauded the suspension, while Kimmel's supporters denounced it as censorship amid criticism and comments from FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. In late September, Disney announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! would return after conversations that framed the comments as ill-timed and insensitive. Nexstar and Sinclair initially declined to air the show on many local ABC affiliates but later reversed.
