Celestino is a retired American who considers himself a centrist and voted for Biden in 2020 and Trump in 2024. He lived in South Korea where he learned to paraglide and now has settled status in the UK after five years, keeping Portuguese citizenship. Miles, 39 from Bristol, works as an accountant and lumberjack, describes himself as left of centre and very liberal, and recently voted Green. Miles part-owns a sawmill and conifer wood in Wales that is being felled and restored to deciduous woodland. They shared a meal and the conversation shifted from friendly chat to a debate about immigration, trade and political divides.
