Democrats Plan to Probe Harvard if It Complies With Trump
Briefly

Nine Democratic lawmakers, all Harvard graduates, will investigate Harvard University if it settles with the Trump administration regarding a dispute over campus antisemitism. The lawmakers, led by Rep. Sam Liccardo and Sen. Adam Schiff, expressed alarm at the potential settlement of up to $500 million. They stated that accepting such a settlement under political pressure could undermine democratic principles. The lawmakers have requested information from Harvard about its communications with Trump officials before their response deadline of August 13.
"We are alarmed that Harvard would contemplate a settlement of this magnitude under apparent political pressure," the Democrats wrote in the letter first obtained by Axios.
"Any such agreement may warrant rigorous Congressional oversight and inquiry," the lawmakers stated, highlighting concerns over political influence.
