Conman duped pensioner with cancer out of 74,000 then fled country

Klaudiusz Majewski, a 49-year-old conman, was part of an organized crime group that defrauded vulnerable elderly individuals, including Leopold Reeves, who lost £74,000. The group exploited elderly victims by posing as National Crime Agency officers and convincing them to transfer large sums of money. After fleeing to Germany, Majewski was arrested and extradited back to the UK. He pleaded guilty to three fraud offences and was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison at Inner London Crown Court on June 30.

Majewski provided accomplices with fraudulently opened bank accounts to cash out from call centre scams, deceiving victims into transferring money under false pretenses.
City of London Police secured an international arrest warrant for Majewski, who was arrested in Germany in January and extradited to the UK to face justice.
Majewski pleaded guilty to three fraud charges and received a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence at Inner London Crown Court on June 30.
