Chris Hayes of MSNBC highlighted the economic uncertainty stemming from President Trump's fluctuating trade policies during an interview with Fox's Maria Bartiromo. Despite initial plans for tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports, Trump announced pauses and halts on these tariffs, showcasing erratic decision-making. Bartiromo pressed Trump for clarity on these policies, pointing out that CEOs require predictability for business planning. Even Fox-friendly outlets are beginning to express concerns over the impact of these tariffs on American businesses and the broader economy.
But I think CEOs wanna see predictability. They say, Look, I have to speak with shareholders. I've got to make plans for CapEx spending. I can't if it's 20% one day, and then it's off for a month, and it's 25%. So, can you give us a sense of whether or not we're going to get clarity for the business community?
I think so. But you know, the tariffs could go up as time goes by, and they may go up. And you know, I don't know if it's predictability.
