Bruce Springsteen and Donald Trump Find Themselves Face to Face at US Open
"Broadcasters were asked to censor the negative reaction to Donald Trump's attendance at the men's final of the US Open in Queens, New York, on Sunday. But there was no censoring the awkwardness in the air when Trump learned that Bruce Springsteen was seated just feet away. Springsteen, of course, has spent the past few months on tour in the UK and Europe, denouncing what he has called the "corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous" Trump administration."
"He also released an EP collecting songs he performed on tour as well as recordings of the speeches he made that provoked the ire of the president. In response, Trump threatened to block his re-entry into the country, and called for an investigation into Springsteen and other musicians who supported Kamala Harris - though he has yet to follow through on either threat."
Broadcasters were asked to censor the negative reaction to Donald Trump's attendance at the men's final of the US Open in Queens, New York. There was noticeable awkwardness when Trump learned that Bruce Springsteen was seated just feet away. Springsteen spent recent months touring the UK and Europe, denouncing what he called the "corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous" Trump administration and releasing an EP that collected live songs and recordings of his speeches. Trump responded by threatening to block Springsteen's re-entry and calling for investigations into musicians who supported Kamala Harris, but he did not follow through on those threats. Stadium reaction to Trump's appearance was captured on the Jumbotron and shared on social media.
