In his first town hall meeting, Congressman Sam Liccardo addressed the fallout from a tense exchange between Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky. After a proposed minerals deal fell through, Liccardo stressed the importance of U.S. support for Ukraine, warning that failing to uphold commitments could enable authoritarianism. He controversially likened Trump to Neville Chamberlain, arguing that capitulating to aggressors leads to greater threats. Other congressmen echoed concerns, suggesting that recent U.S. actions align too closely with Putin's ambitions, calling the situation extraordinarily dangerous, while GOP representative Mike Lawler criticized the public nature of the exchange as short-sighted.
They did their part for peace, it was our responsibility to step up for them and we know that if Putin prevails in Ukraine he's not going to stop.
It's been said is that 90% of what authoritarians gain in power is yielded, not by force but by consent.
Who has made it very clear he wants to establish the Soviet Empire and create the soviet influence and this is now he intends to do it.
It was extremely short sighted to engage in that type of exchange in front of the U.S. and international press as you work towards an agreement.
