Another SNAP disruption looms unless states give Trump their immigration data
"As of next week, we have begun and will begin to stop moving federal funds into those states, until they comply, and they tell us and allow us to partner with them to root out this fraud and to protect the American taxpayer,"
"Democrat States yet another request for data, and if they fail to comply, they will be provided with formal warning that USDA will pull their administrative funds."
"protect illegals, criminals, and bad actors over the American taxpayer."
USDA requested state SNAP enrollment data in February so federal and state agencies could identify potential fraud. Republican-led states complied and provided records the department says revealed examples of food stamp fraud. Several Democratic-run states, including California, New York and Minnesota, declined to provide the requested data. USDA announced it will stop transferring federal administrative funds to noncompliant states until they allow partnership to investigate fraud. The department sent another data request and warned it will formally warn and pull administrative funds if states fail to comply. The department cited roughly 800,000 fewer recipients since the administration took office and alleged instances such as deceased individuals receiving benefits and Social Security numbers used in multiple states; independent verification was not immediately available.
