Brad Lander launched a primary challenge against Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) with backing from Sen. Bernie Sanders and Justice Democrats. Nida Allam, a county commissioner in Durham, N.C., also secured support from Sanders and Justice Democrats, along with the Sunrise Movement and the Working Families Party. Allam said, "We need leaders in Washington who will actually fight to deliver the brighter future we deserve and desperately need." She added, "We cannot wait three more years pretending that a status quo that is failing us today will protect our communities tomorrow." Foushee's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
