Another GOP AG Is Using Subpoenas to Try and Access Abortion Data
Briefly

Tennessee's attorney general, Jonathan Skrmetti, has issued subpoenas to multiple medical groups, including Vanderbilt University Medical Center, for detailed abortion data dating back to 2022. The subpoenas seek documentation such as communications, procedures performed, and records from the hospital's abortion committee. This tactic has been described as intimidation, previously violating patient trust regarding trans healthcare records. Similar efforts have occurred in other states, with Kentucky's AG attempting to use subpoenas to acquire records from abortion providers, though blocked by the courts.
The subpoenas demanded extensive records including 'letters, emails, texts, social media posts, phone conversations, transcripts, videos, and even calendar entries.'
Briana Perry noted that the Attorney General's office had previously used intimidation tactics, highlighting a past subpoena that violated patient trust.
