7 Chinese nationals charged in alleged multi-million-dollar money laundering and trafficking operation in Mass.
Briefly

Seven Chinese nationals have been charged in a human trafficking and marijuana growing operation in Massachusetts and Maine. They allegedly smuggled individuals into the U.S. to work in grow houses located in suburban neighborhoods. The defendants are said to have sold large quantities of marijuana across the Northeast. Those smuggled were reportedly denied access to their passports until debts were repaid. Various defendants face multiple charges including conspiracy, possession, and money laundering, while one remains at large after six were arrested.
The defendants were indicted on one count each of conspiracy to manufacture, distribute, and possess with intent to distribute marijuana, as well as additional charges.
Prosecutors say the defendants conspired to sell kilograms of marijuana in bulk across the Northeast, stretching as far west as New York.
Those smuggled into the country were unable to access their passports until they repaid their smuggling debts.
This case pulls back the curtain on a sprawling criminal enterprise that exploited our immigration system and our communities for personal gain.
