13 of the most questionable redactions from the Epstein files
"Its redaction decisions in many cases went well beyond what the legislation passed by Congress called for. Perhaps no redactions have garnered more attention than the suspected co-conspirators who are described in internal Justice Department documents and others who exchanged eyebrow-raising emails with Epstein. The latter instances include emails that read as if people were evaluating and even scouting women or girls for Epstein."
"That's because we could begin to learn more about the Justice Department's controversial redactions, when lawmakers have an opportunity to review the unredacted files. One prominent House Democrat, Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, said Monday afternoon that he had reviewed the unredacted documents and saw tons of completely unnecessary redactions. I saw the names of lots of people who were redacted for mysterious or baffling or inscrutable reasons, Raskin said."
Lawmakers will be allowed to review unredacted Jeffrey Epstein files on Monday. Rep. Jamie Raskin reviewed some documents and reported extensive unnecessary redactions, including names removed for inscrutable reasons. Many redactions exceeded the scope required by Congress. Redacted material includes suspected co-conspirators and people who exchanged eyebrow-raising emails with Epstein. Some emails appear to describe evaluating or scouting women or girls. Redaction practices have alarmed lawmakers Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna and survivors, who say the Justice Department shielded predators or used blanket redactions. The Justice Department began allowing lawmakers to evaluate the unredacted files so concerns can be raised.
