""She was 12 and she had to have her [13th birthday] in just 2 weeks, full of life, and taken from us far too soon in a heartbreaking incident that we believe was a subway surfing accident," he added. Zemfira Mukhtarov, 12, and Ebba Morina, 13, were discovered unconscious and unresponsive on top of a Brooklyn-bound J train at the Marcy Avenue-Broadway station in Williamsburg around 3:10 a.m. Both girls died at the scene. Zemfira's father created a GoFundMe to cover funeral and memorial services and described her as full of life, noting her 13th birthday was two weeks away. Witnesses said the girls were with about 15 teens running inside the train before being found on the roof. Officers interviewed several teens and removed two from the station. Authorities linked the deaths to a social-media-fueled subway surfing trend and reported multiple recent fatalities from similar stunts.
