In 2023 he unified the welterweight belts by dominating Errol Spence, forcing a stoppage after nine one-sided rounds. In September he moved up to 168 pounds and defeated Saul "Canelo" Alvarez by unanimous decision to claim supermiddleweight supremacy. Crawford declared he had nothing else left to prove, leaving few obvious future opponents and retiring at the peak of his powers.
