The Airport fire in Orange County erupted into nearly 2,000 acres within hours, prompting evacuations in Trabuco Canyon and surrounding neighborhoods due to heat and strong winds.
Temperatures in the fire zone reached about 98 degrees amid a prolonged heat wave, with winds continuing to restructure the wildfire’s path, exacerbating evacuation efforts.
Meteorologist Samantha Zuber highlighted that the current weather conditions, including high temperatures and persistent winds, have contributed significantly to the escalation of wildfires across Southern California.
While temperatures are expected to slightly decrease to around 95 degrees on Tuesday, a more significant cool down is forecasted for Wednesday, bringing relief to affected areas.
