The tremor was widely felt in northern New Jersey, southern New York, and southern Connecticut. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries or significant damage reported. The northeastern United States experiences these smaller quakes about once every couple of years, with only 43 instances of this magnitude or larger since 1950. Notably, a 4.8 magnitude quake occurred in New Jersey in April 2024, causing flight and train disruptions.
