Gov. Wes Moore accepted a Bronze Star for his army service in Afghanistan, resolving controversy over past claims about the award which faced scrutiny during his career.
Lt. Gen. Michael Fenzel, who vouched for Mr. Moore, stated, 'I'm so happy to be in a position to right a wrong,' highlighting the significance of awarding the medal.
Mr. Moore faced longstanding questions over his claim of receiving the Bronze Star, but he insisted it was an honest mistake stemming from a mix-up.
The Bronze Star, awarded for merit in combat, is a prestigious honor and a serious breach of protocol occurs if someone falsely claims such recognition.
