Tarryn Pitt, an avid thrift shopper, is planning a unique outdoor wedding using entirely thrifted decor and tableware to minimize costs and environmental waste. Living in Prineville, Oregon, she has collected vintage items over months, spending less than $2,000 for a dinner attended by 307 guests. Pitt emphasizes the novelty of mismatched but beautiful thrifted dinnerware, aligning with her values of sustainability. Despite the financial savings, the focus is on environmental consciousness and individuality, as evidenced by her careful selection and preparation of all items for the celebration.
"Pretty much all of my home decor came from a thrift store. I wanted something that was unique and fit my personality," said Pitt.
"There are loads of beautiful vintage plates and glasses sitting in thrift stores for between $1 and $3 apiece," Pitt said. "Nothing needed to match - that was the fun of it."
"It's honestly not just about saving money for us, though. What we're doing is super sustainable, and I love giving old things new life."
