The physical and emotional carnage of the early years of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan was on display as prosecutors presented their case in the sentencing trial of Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi.
Friday's testimony shed light on the invasion by an international coalition after Sept. 11 to hunt down Osama bin Laden, America's longest war, ending in a U.S. forces withdrawal in 2021.
Former military personnel shared the trauma from their wartime experiences, including being left blind by a sniper's bullet and losing loved ones to roadside charges and suicide bombings.
