Principal Kirk Moore tackled Hawkins, who shot Moore in the leg during the struggle. Another staff member kicked the gun away. Hawkins was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, admitting he intended to commit a mass shooting influenced by the Columbine incident. Moore was treated and released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
