US judge finds South Sudan-linked deportation flight violated court order
Briefly

The Trump administration faces scrutiny for potentially violating a federal judge's injunction regarding the deportation of migrants. Judge Brian Murphy criticized deportation efforts to South Sudan, noting that individuals were not given sufficient time to challenge their deportations, infringing on their rights. Despite the administration's claims of compliance with court orders, it has faced accusations of judicial defiance. ICE defended the actions, stating those deported were serious offenders, complicating the narrative about the administration's immigration policy adherence and humanitarian obligations.
During Wednesday's court hearing, a lawyer for Trump's Justice Department, Elainis Perez, refused to confirm where the deportation flight had landed, saying that divulging the information raised very serious operational and safety concerns.
Judge Murphy had ruled that migrants facing removal to a third-party country besides their own had the right to a reasonable amount of time to challenge their deportations.
The Trump administration has repeatedly dismissed claims that it refuses to abide by decisions unfavourable to its policies, instead blasting judges like Murphy as activist.
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said the people on board had been accused of murder, armed robbery, rape and sexual assault.
