Two individuals, Cortnie Harris and Corvanntay Baptiste, have been arrested for allegedly aiding inmates who escaped from a New Orleans jail. The ongoing manhunt is for five escapees, many of whom are charged with serious crimes. Harris reportedly communicated with an escapee and transported inmates, while Baptiste allegedly provided food to one of the fugitives. Both face up to five years in prison if convicted. Additionally, a jail maintenance worker was charged, claiming he was threatened into assisting with the escape.
"Those who choose to assist or conceal these individuals are violating the law and will be held accountable. Harboring fugitives threatens the safety of our communities and will not be tolerated."
"If convicted, Harris and Baptiste could face a maximum of five years in prison for their roles in aiding the escapees."
