The sheriff of Orange County, Calif., Don Barnes, warned the public that violence and intimidation around the election would not be tolerated. "In a democracy, every vote should be counted without fear or intimidation. We will ensure that election officials can perform their duties safely and without threats. Utilizing our resources, we are prepared to respond to any incidents that may arise and hold individuals accountable for any violence at the polls."
Retired United States Air Force brigadier general, Marty France, emphasized, "It's imperative that Americans take a stand to protect election officials and their families from the ongoing threats of violence. We must unite as a community to ensure the safety of those who are integral to our democratic process. It is everyone's responsibility to safeguard our elections and maintain the integrity of our electoral system."
Weld County, Colo., clerk and recorder, Carly Koppes pointed out that, "Many members of the public have lost faith in our election officials since 2020, largely due to the misinformation propagated regarding election integrity following the last presidential election. We must work diligently to rebuild this trust and demonstrate that our elections are secure and fair. The safety of election workers is paramount, and we cannot allow fear to dictate our democratic processes."
