Beginning next April, Mega Millions ticket prices will rise from $2 to $5 as part of an overhaul aimed at enhancing jackpots and improving odds.
Joshua Johnston, lead director at Mega Millions, stated that research indicates lottery players are already spending over $5 on various games, hence the ticket price increase.
The upcoming changes will mark the second price increase since the game's inception in 2002, with the last increase occurring in 2017.
Johnston mentioned that while customers expressed complaints about previous price hikes, they continued purchasing tickets, demonstrating their support for the game's evolution.
