"That girl with other friends beat my daughter so bad,"
"Her face was, like, completely in blood. Swelling. I can't even recognize her."
"This is absolutely horrifying. No child should ever endure such a brutal and senseless attack,"
"They're capable of continuing to do it without feeling any guilt. So today it could be our children, tomorrow we don't know who else's,"
A violent assault on an 11-year-old occurred on Sept. 22 just before 6 p.m. on Waring Avenue near Holland Avenue in the Bronx, captured on surveillance video. The video shows the child being sucker-punched, beaten, falling to the ground, and a 4-month-old puppy named Leo being intentionally kicked and sent flying. The puppy was not seriously injured. Good Samaritans driving by intervened and interrupted the attack. A 15-year-old girl has been taken into custody and faces assault charges. The victim remains traumatized, experiencing seizures and loss of appetite, and community members report concerns about other possible victims.
