"If it wasn't for [Weidner], we wouldn't have made it... We didn't think this storm was going to be that bad." said Valerie Cookson, a neighbor rescued by Weidner and his sons.
"The neighbor started yelling, 'I have mother in here in a wheelchair. What do I do?'" Weidner recalled, detailing the urgent situation he faced during the flooding.
"Clusters of boats rested against some houses, mounds of sloppy, clay-like sand blocked streets, and nearly every resident on the island lost their cars when a storm surge as high as eight feet rushed across the island."
"The clock in the main town square is stuck at 7:30 p.m., just about the time when residents say their island community may have been changed forever."
