A Utah Valley University police officer was watching the university campus crowd from an "elevated position" and identified the roof of the Losee Centre as a potential position for a gunman, Mr Gray said. The officer found evidence on the roof immediately, he said, and spurred officers to direct their attention to surveillance video leading to the roof."
Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested and charged with murder for the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk on September 10 at Utah Valley University. Prosecutors allege Robinson fired a bolt-action rifle from a nearby roof, striking Kirk in the neck. A campus officer identified the Losee Centre roof as a potential gunman location, and officers found evidence and surveillance leading there. Investigators report Robinson's DNA on the rifle trigger; he allegedly discarded the rifle and clothing and asked a roommate to conceal evidence. Robinson left a note under a keyboard saying he planned to kill Kirk and later confessed. He faces additional charges including felony discharge of a firearm and obstructing justice.
