Smokey Robinson accused by former housekeepers of sexual assault and rape
Briefly

Four former housekeepers have filed a lawsuit against Smokey Robinson in Los Angeles, alleging sexual assault and rape occurring between 2007 and 2024. The suit outlines allegations of a hostile work environment and labor violations, seeking $50 million in damages. The women, who remain anonymous, reported that Robinson would assault them in his home while they felt isolated and vulnerable. They expressed fears of retaliation and potential immigration consequences, which prevented them from speaking out sooner. The lawsuit also implicates Robinson's wife, Frances, for allegedly enabling his behavior.
"We believe that Mr. Robinson is a serial and sick rapist, and must be stopped," the women's attorney John Harris said at a news conference.
"Having to tell their husband and children of these despicable actions left them filled with shame and embarrassment," Harris said.
"As low-wage earners, they also feared missing a payday... not being able to afford rent or buy food for their families."
The suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court seeks at least $50 million in damages over the alleged assaults and labor violations.
