Sick to My Stomach': Former Annunciation Student Says Her Heart Is Broken After Shooting
"It breaks my heart, makes me sick to my stomach, knowing that there's probably people I know that are either injured, or even killed, the unnamed young woman said. It doesn't make me feel safe at all in this community that I've been a part of for so long. She continued: Me and my friends were talking, like this is like our version of 9/11 because we didn't grow up during 9/11. So this, with our community, that's what it feels like."
"MSNBC conducted the brief street interview with the woman, who was wearing blue medical scrubs, during the 11:00 a.m. ET hour of Ana Cabrera Reports. Cabrera, following the 30-second interview, said, Obviously, a lot of trauma right now in this community, as everybody is trying to find their loved ones who may have been in that school and determine what exactly has happened."
A gunman attacked Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota during a schoolwide mass at about 8:30 a.m. local time, killing at least two people and wounding at least twenty others. Students from kindergarten through eighth grade were attending the mass when the shooting occurred. A former student does not feel safe and fears that people she knows may have been injured or killed. The former student described deep trauma and compared the event's communal impact to a local version of 9/11. A mid-morning street interview captured community anguish while families searched for loved ones and investigators worked to determine what happened.
