Self-inflicted hit of pepper spray drives off an attacking grizzly in Grand Teton National Park

While mauling a hiker, the grizzly bit into the man's can of bear repellent, causing it to flee, likely in defense of its cub.

Rangers chose not to pursue the bears, as their behavior was deemed natural after being surprised, consistent with non-dangerous activities for bears.
