"Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators believe Guthrie was taken from her home while asleep. No suspect or person of interest has been identified, and authorities do not know whether she was targeted. "We don't know where she is, and we don't know why this happened," Nanos said a news conference on Tuesday. The sheriff's department scheduled a new briefing on the case for 1 p.m. ET on Thursday."
""Everyone is looking for you, Mommy, everywhere," Savannah Guthrie said in the video. "We will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again." Authorities said Guthrie has limited mobility and relies on medication that could be fatal if not taken within 24 hours. "She is 84 years old, her health, her heart is fragile," Savannah Guthrie said. "She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive. She needs it not to suffer.""
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen Saturday night at her Catalina Foothills home north of Tucson and was reported missing Sunday after failing to attend church. Investigators believe she may have been taken from her home while asleep, and no suspect or person of interest has been identified. The FBI has joined the investigation and will send additional agents and specialists to assist local authorities. Investigators are reviewing possible ransom letters received by media outlets. Family members released a video plea for her safe return and said she has limited mobility and requires medication that could be fatal if not taken within 24 hours.
