The robbers stormed the store before making off with thousands of dollars worth of items, authorities said. "The store's owner, who has been identified only by his family name Bui, suffered a stroke following the attack and later a heart attack in the hospital while recovering, both of which doctors attributed to the stress of the robbery. He is now recovering at home."
Five suspects were arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail between Oct. 28 and Nov. 6 on suspicion of robbery in a Sept. 5 smash-and-grab at Kim Hung Jewelry in East San Jose. The suspects were identified as Dennis Campos-Torres, Fati Johnson, Keimaree Dews, Jonathan Caruso and Giovann Caliz. Investigators believe more than a dozen people participated, driving a vehicle into the store and seizing thousands of dollars in jewelry. Surveillance video captured the attack. One suspect allegedly held a gun to an adult male's head and the store's elderly owner was violently shoved. The owner, identified as Bui, suffered a stroke and later a heart attack doctors attributed to stress; he is recovering at home.
