Since assuming his role, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has signed more than 300 letters revoking visas of individuals, including students and visitors. His efforts focus on those whose actions are counter to U.S. national interests and foreign policy. Rubio insists he personally reviews each case before revocation and argues that individuals charged with crimes should automatically lose their visas. Additionally, he has begun stripping green cards from permanent residents. He declined to disclose the identification process but emphasized the need to seek out additional visa holders who may pose risks.
Since taking office in January, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has revoked over 300 visas, citing foreign policy violations and criminal activities as reasons for expulsion.
Rubio emphasized that each visa revocation is personally reviewed, stating, 'If we knew this information about them before we gave them a visa, would we have allowed them in?'
During a press briefing, Rubio noted, 'We’re not going to talk about the process by which we’re identifying it because obviously we’re looking for more people,' highlighting ongoing investigations.
As part of his strategy, Rubio has begun expelling permanent U.S. residents by stripping them of their green cards, significantly expanding the scope of deportations.
