Their families said that they were all mothers and avid skiers, some with friendships dating back to college, who frequently took trips like this together."
Nine people died in an avalanche near Lake Tahoe during a back-country ski trip. The three previously unidentified victims are 34-year-old Andrew Alissandratos of Verdi, Nevada; 42-year-old Nicole Choo of South Lake Tahoe; and 30-year-old Michael Henry of Soda Springs, California and Tampa, Florida. The other six victims are Carrie Atkin, Liz Clabaugh, Danielle Keatley, Kate Morse, Kate Vitt, and Caroline Sekar. Six survivors from the group of 15 were rescued about six hours after the avalanche. Snow and blizzard conditions delayed recovery; five bodies were recovered Friday and four were recovered Saturday. Formal interviews with survivors had not yet been conducted.
